Job Title – Senior Teacher – Economics
Job Purpose: Teacher/Senior Teacher – In & S
Reports to- Senior School Head
Main working relationships: Programme Coordinators, Senior School Head, Head of School
Duties:
- Plan, prepare, develop and deliver courses of study to a range of classes according to Neev curriculum guidelines and school requirements.
- To lead Economics curriculum development across all grades.
- Tailor and differentiate courses of study and lessons to meet the individual needs of student’s levels of academic ability and previous achievement.
- Develop and present lesson plans by using a variety of teaching models and techniques. Use relevant technology to support teaching.
- Prepare and procure resources to support delivery of the Economics curriculum.
- Research new topic areas, devising and writing new curriculum course materials as required.
- Observe, monitor and assess students on-going progress. Prepare assignments and tests for in-school assessment and homework.
- Mark work and maintain accurate and complete records of students' academic progress and achievements.
- Inform parents of student’s progress of academic performance, attendance, and participation; reporting on all elements of student development at parent-teacher conferences, both regularly scheduled and as-needed.
- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
- Maintain good student behavior in the classroom and on school premises in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of Neev Academy.
- Supervise and support the work of teacher assistants and co-teachers.
- Prepare classroom environment and maintain a safe, secure, and stimulating educational environment.
- Undertake pastoral duties, such as taking on class tutor role and supporting students on an individual basis through academic or personal difficulties;
- Provide and participate in extracurricular activities such as study groups, student Literary activities, Debate and Drama clubs and organizations.
- Keep up to date with developments in specialist subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.
- Attend school, faculty meetings and training.
- To prepare and implement schemes of work throughout the school appropriate to meet the needs of different ability levels.
- Use relevant ICT to support teaching.
- To keep up to date with national developments in the subject area and teaching practice and methodology. Make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.
- To liaise with the management to maintain accreditation with the relevant examination and validating bodies.
- Prepare students for qualifications and external examinations.
- Update job knowledge by attending faculty meetings; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
