The plans for Neev Academy campus are developed keeping in mind research on learning environments, curricular philosophy of Neev Academy, developmentally appropriate practices for children and the responses from a parent survey conducted with existing Neev Academy parents.*
It is our goal for the school to meet the needs of a best practices contemporary educational experience, which is fun, challenging, creative and collaborative while making space for individual excellence in keeping with Neev’s developmental philosophy.
Meeting the education needs of urban centers in Indian cities, our foremost goal was to find a property which did not trade-off long commutes for just 45 mins of sports a day. The site purchased for the campus is in the center of town – located around 4 kms from Wind Tunnel Road/Airport Road, or 2 kms from HAL Museum/Airport Road.
The property is 2.25 acres and the school building is planned for Grades 1 to 12 with 3 sections each – at full capacity of 950 children and approximately 200 personnel. We planned to have two separate buildings – one (Yemalur II) built for the PYP with Ground + 1 floor with a built up area of around 27,000 sq. ft., and the second (Yemalur I) Ground + 3 floors with a built-up area of approximately 90,000 sq. ft. We have designed our classrooms to be naturally ventilated with lots of natural light, have space for discussions and activities and integrate technology for daily work – all at an individual or collaborative level. Students would have access to all the facilities like laboratories, libraries and computing facilities that are required to support and enhance their learning at school. We, at Neev Academy, feel that sports is an integral part of education and so we have planned for Basketball and Tennis courts, Football field which can double up for hockey, cricket pitches, an indoor gymnasium and a half Olympic-size swimming pool. Several landscaped areas for unstructured play, roller blading and other semi-structured forms of physical activity have been planned as well.
At Neev, we believe in encouraging our student to think creatively and so we have planned spaces accordingly from our indoor/outdoor art & sculpture studios, music room, audio-visual room and two large performing arts studio. Several bio-terraces have been planned to encourage our students to grow kitchen gardens. The school cafeteria is also designed to seat nearly 400 children / adults together for fresh meals cooked on location, while also catering to our learning programmes through a space for a cooking lab.
